'India directly concerned about situation in Afghanistan,' says TS Tirumurti at UNSC
India's PR TS Tirumurti talked about the nation's stance for the safety of Afghan people, especially children and women amid Taliban's attempt to shed brutality

Following Taliban's attempt to shed ir old brutal image of previous rule in Afghanistan and Government formation with ministers wanted by FBI, United Nations Security Council (UNSC) debated on situation on Thursday. Speaking at UNSC debate on Afghanistan crisis, India's Permanent Representative TS Tirumurti said that situation is a matter of direct concern for India as an 'immediate neighbour & a friend'. Describing current condition, PR Tirumurti ded that ' situation in Afghanistan continues to be very fragile'. India's concerns also revolve around future of Afghan people which now lies on 'uncertainties' and 'sustaining and building on gains achieved over last two deces'.
India also highlighted need for 'collective concerns, in particular on terrorism'.
"It took into account some of our collective concerns, in particular on terrorism, where it has noted commitment of Taliban not to allow use of Afghan soil for terrorism, including from terrorists and terrorist groups designated under resolution 1267. It has underlined that Afghan territory should not be used to threaten or attack any country or to shelter or train terrorists, or to plan or to finance terrorist acts," TS Tirumurti at UNSC debate on Afghanistan crisis.

India's Permanent Representative to UN took a clear and strong stance for people of Afghanistan. In his dress at UNSC, he called for aspirations of Afghan children, protection to rights of minorities, humanitarian assistance to be provided urgently. ambassor also underlines need to provide unhindered access to UN and or agencies in this regard.
UNSC on Afghanistan crisis
Witnessing dramatic changes in situation in Afghanistan over course of last month, Security Council met thrice in August and has collectively pronounced on prevailing situation, ded TS Tirumurti. Apart from India, Afghanistan ambassor to United States' Ghulam Isaczai urged UNSC to not recognize Government formed by Taliban. Isaczai, in his dress also ded that re are eyewitness accounts of Taliban committing atrocities and human rights violations in Afghanistan. 'y have performed targetted executions, cut off communication lines and imposed a humanitarian blocke,' ded Afghanistan ambassor.
