Tamil Nadu sets up a State Bird Authority for conservation of birds

Supriya Sahu, Addl Chief Secretary Environment Climate Change & Forests, Govt of Tamil Nadu said, "Tamil Nadu sets up a State Bird Authority to strengthen the conservation of birds. The State has 17 Bird Sanctuaries out of which 14 are also Ramsar sites. Authority will undertake the preparation of Integrated Management Plans for bird sanctuaries to improve conditions for bird nesting, map new locations, undertake restoration of sanctuaries and improve visitor facilities through community-based eco-tourism."

After Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel resigned from his post of Karnataka State President of the BJP on Saturday, Senior BJP leader V Somanna expressed his desire to lead the saffron party in the state. However, BJP leader and former revenue minister R Ashok claimed that the position is not vacant yet as the party's national President JP Nadda will take the final decision.

"Haven't heard what Somanna has said but the post of BJP state president is not vacant. Kateel would continue to be the party president until the national president takes a decision on it," said R Ashok.

20-year-old stabbed to death in Delhi’s Brijpuri area

A 20-year-old man has been stabbed to death in Delhi's Brijpuri area. According to reports, Rahul was killed by a person identified as Mohammad Zaid. The horrific incident happened after the two indulged in a heated argument over some trivial issue. Police have confirmed that the accused is absconding, and a search operation to nab him is underway.

"We don't know the reason behind the attack, we got to know that an argument broke out and he immediately attacked my brother and cousin. One of them is in critical condition and is in ICU and the other one is stable," said Madhu, sister of Rahul.

UP man kills family members, shoots himself

"30-year-old man namely Shivveer Yadav killed his brother Bhullan and Sonu Yadav, his wife, brother-in-law and his friend, in Gokulpur village. After the murders, he shot himself. He also attacked his wife and maternal aunt. Both are undergoing treatment in the hospital. The bodies have been sent for postmortem. Investigation underway," said Vinod Kumar, SP Mainpuri.

Fake certificate case: Former SFI leader Nikhil Thomas arrested in Kottayam

The Special Investigation Team on Saturday arrested Students Federation of India (SFI) leader, Nikhil Thomas from Kottayam in connection with the fake degree certificate in Alappuzha MSM College. The former SFI area secretary was taken into custody from the KSRTC depot. Nikhil had been evading police for the past five days after police booked him in the forgery case.

SIF had expelled Nikhil Thomas on June 20 from the primary membership of the organisation for allegedly being involved in a fake degree certificate.
