Warsaw: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to European nation Poland, on Wednesday announced that India is going to start Jam Saheb Memorial Youth Exchange programme to mark 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and India. PM Modi, while dressing Indian diaspora in Poland’s capital city Warsaw, elaborated that under programme 20 Polish youths will be invited to visit India. Notably, Prime Minister Modi is first prime minister to visit Poland in 45 years.
Explaining historic connection between India and Poland, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “During World War II, when Poland was surrounded by difficulties and when thousands of Polish women and children were wandering from place to place in search of shelter, Jam Saheb, Digvijay Singh Ranjit Singh Jeja ji came forward to help m.”

Poland Was Among First Countries To Assist During Earthquake in Gujarat: PM Modi
“He h built a special camp for women and children and he told women and children of camp that just like people of Jamnagar call me Bapu, I am your Bapu too,” Prime Minister said.
"India is going to start Jam Sahib Memorial Youth Action program. As part of this program, 20 Polish youths will be invited to come to India. This way Polish youths will get to learn more about India,” PM Modi announced, ding that Kolhapur Memorial in Warsaw is a tribute by Poland to Kolhapur royal family.

"Poland was one of first countries to assist when Jamnagar and Gujarat were hit by an earthquake two deces ago. people of Poland have given a lot of love and respect to Jam Saheb and his family members, and Good Maharaja Square is a testimony of that. Today, I have visited Dobry Maharaja Memorial and Kolhapur Memorial. On this occasion, I want to announce that India has decided to launch Jam Saheb Memorial Youth Action programme," said PM Modi.
"Today, I have h opportunity to pay tribute at ‘Monte Cassino memorial’. This memorial reminds us of sacrifice of thousands of Indian soldiers. This is proof of how Indians have performed ir duty in every corner of world," PM Modi recalled sacrifice me by Indian soldiers in Poland.

Earlier, before departing for Poland, Prime Minister stated that his visit comes as both countries mark 70 years of diplomatic relations.
"My visit to Poland comes as we mark 70 years of our diplomatic relations. Poland is a key economic partner in Central Europe. Our mutual commitment to democracy and pluralism furr reinforces our relationship. I look forward to meeting my friend Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda to furr vance our partnership," PM Modi said in a statement.
