Indian Army evacuates 160 stranded civilians from snow clad Gurez

The Dawar Battalion of Snow Leopard Brigade airlifted over 160 stranded civilians from Gurez. The operation was jointly carried out by IAF and the Indian Army

Dawar Battalion of Sw Leopard Brige airlifted more than 160 stranded civilians from Gurez on March 15. complete Gurez Valley is presently cut off from Kashmir since early vember last year. clearing of sw at Razdan Pass and on ro connecting Bandipora to Kanzalwan has alrey commenced and is likely to finish by April end.
 
​Earlier on March 14, Dawar Garrison of Indian Army received a requisition from civil ministration for evacuation of civilians stranded in winter cut off Gurez and Bandipora. In view of upcoming semester exams of gruation and higher secondary, locals were anxious to return back to Gurez at earliest. A large number of students pursuing higher studies in different parts of country also wanted to move out to join ir colleges. ditional civil medical staff was also inducted in Gurez with help of Indian Army to boost preparations to fight COVID-19.

Indian Army and IAF carry out a joint rescue operation 

helip controlled by Dawar Battalion was me operational despite heavy sw cover in record time. Later Indian Army and Air Force in a joint effort evacuated over 160 civilians including four critical patients from Army helip at Dawar and Sonarwain.

operation continued for hours till late evening. Army Medical Team carried out screening of all civilians for Corona Virus at helip itself. An isolation ward was also set up inside Dawar Garrison to quarantine suspected cases.

army also provided necessary succor and ministrative support in cold wear conditions. critically ill patients were provided medical comfort by medical team of Dawar Battalion at helip before y could be evacuated by air. civil ministration and local population thanked Commander, Sw Leopard Brige for support extended to Gurezis time and again.
