Indian Coast Guard saves 11 fishermen stranded near Sagar Island due to engine failure

ICG Kolkata had warned fishermen against venturing out to the seas due to a sudden weather change. The boat was stranded due to engine failure near the island.

Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Sunday rescued 11 fishermen after ir boat suffered an engine failure. boat along with fishing crew was stuck in Bay of Bengal near Sagar Island when ICG saved m. fishing boat named MAA SHITALA was stranded when ICG ships at sea received information about sudden wear changes causing a swell in seas.

ICG Kolkata hequarters h earlier warned fishermen against venturing out to seas due to a sudden change in wear. During time, a fishing boat was reported to be stranded near Sagar Island with an engine failure. Coast Guard located boat rift in area and rescued ship along with its crew after a swift rescue operation.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) Kolkata of Ministry of Defence, furr informed that stranded crew were taken to Haldia. Lauding ICG’s effort’s, PRO tweeted, “Braving rough seas & verse wear conditions ICGS Anmol rescued 11 fishermen from stranded Fishing Boat ‘MAA SHITALA’ 35 Nm south of Sagar Island in prevailing cyclonic wear. All crew rescued safely by ICG ship & being brought to Haldia.”

Earlier on Sunday, PRO informed that fishermen in region were warned of a sudden change in wear. All fishing boats were asked to return to shore due to unsafe conditions. “ICG Ships & aircraft deployed at sea alerting fishermen to return harbour due to prevailing low-pressure area in Bay of Bengal. Efforts of Coast Guard ensured return of 100 boats in Odisha and 400 boats in West Bengal,” PRO h tweeted.

Deep depression crosses Odisha coast

According to  Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a depression formed over Bay of Bengal has intensified to become a deep depression and has crossed Odisha coast on Monday morning. department predicted heavy rainfall in state along with West Bengal. According to wear department, western and central India is expected to receive heavy rainfall throughout day. Extreme rainfall is expected over Odisha and Chhattisgarh on September 13, and over Mhya Presh on September 14.
