The Consulate-General of India in Dubai on Monday, October 14, reiterated its reminder for all Indians traveling to the UAE to get travel insurance that can cover expenditures in case of an emergency. A similar notice was issued in February, reminding Indian nationals traveling to the UAE to take out adequate insurance to cover any expenditure in case of emergency, following two back-to-back medical emergencies involving Indian tourists in the UAE.

The consulate took to Twitter and issued a fresh advisory. The advisory stated that there is a constant request from Indians visiting UAE seeking assistance to meet unforeseen medical expenditure or repatriation expenses due to a medical condition or accident. It further urged the traveler to carry insurance as many expenditures do not fall under the scope of the consulate.

Why Travel Insurance?

Travel medical insurance primarily provides protection against contingency. It gives emergency medical coverage for unforeseen sickness or accidents. Also because of the expensive treatment in foreign countries, it is advisable to carry sufficient travel insurance while traveling abroad.

Indian nurses risk losing jobs in UAE

As per reports, jobs of hundreds of Indian nurses with diploma certificates are at stake due to a new educational requirement in the UAE. Around  200 nurses have lost their jobs from some hospitals in northern emirates while several others have been demoted after the UAE made a bachelor’s degree in nursing as the minimum educational qualification for registered nurses, affected nurses said. The nurses who are retained are further required to do a Post Basic BSc Nursing Programme from universities in the UAE accredited by the Ministry of Education by 2020.
