Indian Railways introduces Rail Bicycle for staff to aid track inspection
The Indian Railways has introduced a ‘new innovation’ called the ‘Rail Bicycle’ in a bid to help the staff in daily inspection, monitoring and track repair.

Indian Railways has introduced a ‘new invation’ called ‘Rail Bicycle’ in a bid to help staff in daily inspection, monitoring and track repair. Civil engineer Pankaj Soni is being vel idea, which will run on railway tracks at an aver speed of 10kmph. On August 25, East Coast Rail shared a video and informed that Rail bicycle started its track inspection in Khurda Ro Division.

According to reports, bicycles have been manufactured in-house by Permanent Way (P-WAY) unit of East Coast Railway’s Khurda Ro division by using damd rail dolly wheels for balancing cycle. ECoR, in a statement, said that se bicycles move at a maximum speed of 15mph and can be easily lifted as y weigh only 30kg. officials also informed that y can also be dismantled and assembled by one person easily.
Railway Bicycles will help trackmen in inspecting and monitoring tracks, especially during monsoons. ECoR reportedly said that trackmen are required to carry out ir duties at present on foot around year at all times of day.

While taking to Twitter, Odisha’s state vice president Bhrugu Baxipatra, was amongst first to hail civil engineer for his invative ‘vel mechanism’. BJP Minister Lalitendu Bidyhar Mohapatra also praised railways for promoting #VocalForLocal.

According to reports, it is believed that railway cycles will be very helpful for patrolling during summers too. rail bicycles can be used for patrolling to ensure safety and security in sections of railway division currently closed to traffic due to unprecedented coronavirus pandemic.
