Indian Railways ready to run Ganapati special trains, Maharashtra govt puts offer on hold
The Indian Railways has planned to run Ganapati Special Trains following the social distancing norms subject to the approval by the Maharashtra Government.

As festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is just around corner, Indian Railways has planned to run Ganapati Special Trains following social distancing rms. This service is subject to approval by Maharashtra Government, which is yet to give its d as matter remains under consideration.
In an official statement, Central Railway stated that in view of COVID-19 and extraordinary situation prevailing as a consequence reof Central Railway vide letter dated July 23, 2020, asked state government on ir views about running Ganapati Special Trains (special long-distance mail/express trains to Konkan Region within Maharashtra), number and date from which to run se special trains.

"Director, Disaster Manment Unit, Maharashtra vide ir letter dated 7.8.2020 informed that special trains may be scheduled to Konkan Region for Ganapati Festival in response to Central Railway’s letter. Accordingly, Central Railway immediately scheduled special trains and sent for Railway Board’s approval," statement re.
"Railway Board have Instantly approved on 9.8.2020 running of special trains subject to following Standard Operations Procedure (SOP) of Ministry of Home Affairs and Inter-District travel rms of State Government of Maharashtra in wake of COVID pandemic," it ded.

Indian railways has shown interest in deploying special long-distance trains to Konkan Region for Ganapati festival while hering to COVID-19 protocols.
"However, senior officials of State Government of Maharashtra informed on telephone on Saturday 8th August at night to keep on hold schedule of running of special trains as matter is under reconsideration of Maharashtra Government and said that y would vise outcome," statement said.

Since n, Railway ministration both at Board level and zonal level are in continuous touch with Maharashtra Government officials and have been waiting for green signal from state government.
"Central Railway wishes to inform passengers that it is rey to run specials, however, final go-ahe is yet to be confirmed by state government," statement concluded.
