Indian Railways to run Buddhist Circuit train from October 19

In a bid to make passengers travel to important places associated with the life of Gautam Buddha, Piyush Goyal led Ministry of Railways, has decided to run its first Buddhist Circuit. The Indian Railways took to Twitter and made the official announcement for the commencement of the train.

The first Buddhist Circuit Train will run between India and Nepal from 19 October to 26 October. According to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the Buddhist circuit train will cover important Buddhist monuments. The train will take passengers from Safdarjung railway station in New Delhi and will end its journey at Safdarjung railway station itself after travelling to the places associated with the life of Gautam Buddha. IRCTC is further offering many attractive packages for tourists wishing to go on Buddhist circuit tours.

Tracing the life of the Buddha from his birth to his ascension from the bindings of the material world, the comprehensive itinerary of the Buddhist Circuit Tourist Train incorporates the Mahaparinirvan Temple at Kushinagar, with its Reclining Buddha depicting the divine soul’s last earthly position of rest. Aspirants who wish to achieve deeper insight into Buddhism can delve into its intricacies while reflecting on the sermons given by the Buddha at Shravasti; specifically, the Jetavana monastery. As the icing on the cake, IRCTC treats guests to the Indian Wonder of the World, Taj Mahal, which has maintained its pride of place over the centuries.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to launch 'Sewa Service'

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal will launch the "Sewa Service" trains by flagging off the Delhi-Shamli daily passenger train from the New Delhi railway station on Tuesday. The other "Sewa Service" trains will run from Vadnagar to Mahesana, Asarya to Himmatnagar, Karur to Salem, Yesvantpur to Tumkur and Coimbatore to Pollachi. These trains will run six days a week.
