Indians among 23 crew members on UK tanker seized by Iran. Read statement here
Indian nationals are among the 23 people who were onboard the UK flagged oil tanker which was seized by Iran on Saturday, said cargo vessel owner Stena Bulk. Bulk also said that the vessel is no longer under the control of the crew and remain uncontactable.

UPDATE: Nineteen Indian nationals are on board vessel Stena Impero which has been taken by Iran. Indian Mission in Tehran is in touch with Iranian authorities and trying to ascertain facts. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, "We are ascertaining furr details. Our Mission is in touch with Government of Iran to secure early release and repatriation of Indian nationals."

"re have been reported injuries and safety and welfare of our crew remain our primary focus," Stena Bulk said in a statement. 23 people on board are of Indian, Russian, Latvian and Filipi nationality, statement said.
Swedish owners of Stena Impero h said earlier that vessel h come under "attack" in Strait of Hormuz. Stena Bulk and rrn Marine Manment h said in a statement that it "can confirm that... our mand vessel Stena Impero was attacked by unidentified small crafts and a helicopter while transiting Strait of Hormuz while vessel was in international waters"."We are presently unable to contact vessel which is w tracking as heing rth towards Iran," statement h said.

Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump said that it proves that Iran is thing but trouble. “This only goes to show what I’m saying about Iran. Trouble. thing but trouble,” he said. “It goes to show you I was right about Iran.”
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that its navy h captured British-flagged oil tanker, Stena Impero. IRGC accused tanker of "violating international regulations. Iran's Revolutionary Guards ded that y h confiscated British tanker in strategic Strait of Hormuz for breaking "international maritime rules".

Stena Impero tanker "was confiscated by Revolutionary Guards at request of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Organisation when passing through strait of Hormuz, for failing to respect international maritime rules," Guards' official website Sepahnews anunced. tanker "was led to shore and handed over to organisation to go through legal procedure and required investigations," it said.
