Indians shifting from Twitter to Mastodon for a 'happier alternative'

Mastodon, an open-source self-hosted social networking service has been trending on Twitter as most of the Indians are shifting from other platforms for a “happier” alternative. Mastodon was created by German coder Eugen Rochko in 2016. The platform allows users from different servers to interact with each other seamlessly. It further allows users to interact with users on different open platforms that support the same protocol. What makes Mastodon different from Twitter and other platforms is the fact that it is decentralised which means that a single entity is not controlling the data on the site. 

Mastodon also has a Twitter page that says, “The social networking of the future: No ads, no corporate surveillance, ethical design, and decentralisation! Own your data with Mastadon-Try it today for free!” The page also tweeted a video that helps explains the basic working of Mastadon. Many netizens have also started switching from Twitter to Mastodon as they claim that the platform was refreshing and had a generous word limit in comparison. Many claims that Mastodon has an overall more positive vibe while others stated that the platform's zero-tolerance policy towards any bias, online hate or trolling is what lured them towards Mastodon.
