India's first woman captain, Radhika Menon honoured by Govt of India
The Indian government recognised Captain Radhika Menon under Bharat Ki Laxmi campaign which aims to honour the extraordinary achievements of women in society

Indian government recognised Captain Rhika Men under Bharat Ki Laxmi campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Captain Men, who is first female master mariner h won top international bravery award by International Maritime Organisation (IMO) for 'Exceptional Bravery at sea 2016'. She was recognised on Sunday, under Bharat Ki Laxmi campaign which was anunced by PM Modi on September 29, during 57th episode of 'Mann Ki Baat' to hour extraordinary achievements of women in society.

About Captain Rhika Men
Captain Rhika Men is first woman captain of Indian Merchant Navy who received International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in 2016. IMO, which is a specialized ncy of United Nations responsible for safety and security of shipping and prevention of marine pollution by ships, conferred Captain Men with bravery award to hour her for rescuing seven fishermen from a sinking fishing boat in tumultuous seas in Bay of Bengal in June 2015. Captain Rhika Men first started her career as a rio officer at Shipping Corporation of India and established International Women Seafarers Foundation (IWSF) in 2017 to help young women pursuing a career in maritime. Men has me her mark spectacularly in a male-dominated profession and proven that professions are t -based.

PM's appeal to felicitate women's contribution to nation
"Daughters are considered as Lakshmi in our culture. Can't we felicitate daughters in our vills and cities by holding public programmes? re are several daughters, daughters-in-law who are doing exceptional work ... some are teaching poor children, some are spreing awareness about health and sanitation.
