India's security wil be maintained in extended neighbourhood apart from borders: CDS Rawat

Amid growing volatility on Line of Actual Control with China and nefarious Pakistan’s regular attempts of intrusion, Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat said on Saturday that India's security would t only be maintained on International Border, Line of Control or Line of Actual Control but also in strategic of "extended neighbourhood" and "strategic frontier".
dressing a symposium on 'emerging defence exports', he said India values its growing relationship with US and also cherishes its tritional relationship with Russia. He said India shares "a mature and robust defence and security framework" with two powers.

CDS said armed forces will have to work through budgetary constraints by finding best solutions through new acquisitions and optimisation considering macro-ecomic parameters.

'Threat from disruptive techlogies'
He referred to proposed reforms in military structure and said Chief of Defence Staff and atre commanders would "conjointly" provide "unity of command" while service hequarters and "component commanders" could provide "unity of effort".

In a major reform in military framework, India is working on setting up of a number of atre commands, integrating some of commands of three services, to deal with future security challenges that will be faced by country.
"In emerging security parigm, India's security would be maintained t, as hirto, on IB, LC or LAC alone, but in strategic of ''extended neighbourhood'' and 'strategic frontier'," he said without elaborating furr.

His statement seemed to be in reference to India's evolving security relations with a number of countries in its extended neighbourhood like Indonesia, Singapore and several countries in Gulf region in last few years.
CDS also said disruptive techlogies like artificial intelligence, robotics, big data analytics, drone techlogy, militarization of , quantum communications, along with manipulation of social media are factors that are leing to new threats and furr complicating security environment.

He said vants created by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are being seen as opportunities by n-state actors, ding future defence systems must be qualitatively and quantitatively capable of dealing with new threats.
"In this era of multidimensional techlogy, we must focus on constant invations and modern techlogical solutions, to keep ourselves ahe of versaries," he said.
