Indo-US joint military exercise 'Vajra Prahar' begins in Seattle on October 13. The event will last till October 28. This is 10th edition of India-US exercise.

India and the US are holding the 10th edition of the joint military exercise 'Vajra Prahar' at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) in Seattle which begins from October 13. The event will last until October 28. A 45-member Special Forces team from the Indian Army will train alongside US Special Forces from 13 - 28 October 2019 said Indian Embassy in a statement. In 2018, the exercise took place in Jaipur. The event is a Special Forces joint training exercise conducted on alternate years in India and the US since 2010.
"These exercises will enable sharing of best practices and experience in areas such as joint mission planning capabilities and operational tactics," the Embassy said in its statement.

Earlier military exercises between the US and India
In September 2019, another India-US Joint Military Exercise had taken place in Washington DC's Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The exercise is one of the largest running joint military training and defense corporation endeavors between the two countries. It was the 15th edition which took place in September. The news agencies also shared a visual of the joint forces playing Indian National Anthem 'Jana Gana Mana' which received appreciation. A video of the US Army soldiers singing Assam Regiment's marching song Badluram ka badan zameen ke neeche hai'' along with the Indian Army contingent was also shared by the Indian Army on its Twitter handle in September. Indian and US Army soldiers were trained jointly on the howitzers and Chinook helicopters during the exercise, cited earlier reports.

The motive of joint military exercises
September's military exercise also include Female Army Officers. The joint military exercises are an important aspect of deepening bilateral defense cooperation between India and the US. In such events, the armies of participant nations jointly train, plan and execute a series of well-developed operations for neutralization of threats of varied nature. The common aims also include countering the threat of international terrorism through mutual training and jointness.
