IP University Student Commits Suicide After He Was Expelled From Hostel In Delhi's Dwarka

New Delhi: A student of IP University on Sunday allegedly committed suicide jumping off from 7th floor of his hostel in Delhi’s Dwarka, after he was expelled from hostel for celebrating a birthday party. incident reportedly occurred at Shivalik Boys hostel located in Dwarka Sector 16 area. On information, local Dwarka police rushed to spot and shifted body to mortuary of a hospital for post-mortem.

students staying at same hostel have identified deceased as Gautam Kumar, a resident of Bihar Hajipur district. incident took place at around 6.10 pm, when suddenly victim reportedly shouted “Sorry bhai” from 7th floor and jumped off.

Students Stage Massive Protest Against At Spot

According to one of students at hostel, warden of Shivalik Boys Hostel, on Saturday issued an expulsion order for six students including one from Nepal. It was alleged that said students consumed liquor inside hostel room on intervening night of September 13 and 14. students were directed to hand over possession of ir rooms on Sunday until 2 pm.

victim’s fellow hostel mates claimed that Gautam was in no habit of drinking liquor or smoking. He was called by or students celebrating his birthday inside a room to have cake, when suddenly warden entered room and caught m all. It is also being claimed that victim reiterated that he was not involved in drinking and smoking and couldn’t afford to live outside hostel, but his request went unnoticed.

Meanwhile, after incident, students gared in large numbers outside hostel and staged a massive protest against hostel warden and IP University ministration demanding stringent action against those responsible for pushing victim to commit suicide.
