New Delhi: Former Union Minister Smriti Irani on Friday was all guns blazing Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi at Republic Bharat’s ‘Rashtra Sarvopari Sammelan’, accusing him of holding anti-India stances and questioning his trust in foreign companies over Indian companies and institutions. Speaking to Republic Media Network’s Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami at the Summit, Irani questioned Rahul Gandhi for his stances on national sovereignty, integrity and security, drawing examples from Gandhi's various statements in India and on foreign soil, which downgraded the reputation of the Indian institutions in the world. She even challenged Rahul Gandhi asking to contest elections in a seat, which is not his family’s traditional constituency.
BJP leader and former Lok Sabha MP from Amethi, Smriti Irani , in a candid conversation with Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami at Republic Bharat's Rashtra Sarvopari Sammelan, appeared to be in no mood to spare Rahul Gandhi for his stances questioning his intention.
Irani, while recalling Gandhi’s remarks, wherein he questioned Indian companies' credibility involved in preparing COVID-19 vaccines, defence manufacturing Indian company HAL, involved in manufacturing of various defence equipment further boosting Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's call for 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', Indian Army’s surgical strike and airstrike, and his remark questioning India's democratic institutions, including, the Election Commission, Parliament, EVMs and others.
Smriti Irani Accused Rahul Gandhi Of Undermining India's Democratic Structure
Irani criticized Rahul Gandhi for his comments during the COVID-19 vaccine crisis, where he had suggested that India should rely on foreign companies for vaccines instead of strengthening its own domestic capabilities. She also questioned his faith in India's self-reliance and its military, asking if he would seek proof from the army in the event of a terrorist attack.
The former Union Minister said, “I am speaking this openly and no one in this country doubts that I speak openly. You tell me, when death was looming, who would tell you not to trust Indian companies? When you knew that global supply chains were restricted, people were closing their country's borders, then instead of strengthening your country, you were saying, no sir, go to some foreign company with a begging bowl and stand in line for the vaccine.”
“You tell me, when you say that we have to make the country self-reliant (Atma Nirbhar), then which Indian, no matter who he votes for, will say that we do not have to be self-reliant, we have to depend on someone else,” Smriti Irani asked.
“If we say that our soldiers are protecting the country on our border and some state-sponsored terrorist group attacks us, which Indian will go and ask for proof from his army, tell me,” Irani hit out at Rahul Gandhi for his remarks after Indian defence forces’ surgical strike and airstrike in Pakistan .
Irani also slammed Gandhi for his remarks on India's democratic institutions, including the Election Commission, Parliament, and EVMs. She accused him of undermining the country's democratic structure and questioned his intention behind such remarks.
“You see attacks on your democratic structure, first on your EVMs, your Election Commission, then you see attacks on your economic systems, now you are seeing attacks on your media,” she lashed out at Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on these institutions during his foreign trips.
Smriti Irani 's Hilarious Response On Rahul Gandhi
Smriti Irani vehemently criticized the term "Godi Media" being used to describe India's media, questioning how a foreign government or power could dare to label the country's media as such. She pointed out that a Canadian communication agency had used this term, which was previously used by the opposition. Irani's remarks highlight her strong objection to external entities meddling in India's internal matters and undermining the integrity of its media.
The former Amethi MP, Smriti Irani made a hilarious remark when asked about Rahul Gandhi , if he is a foreign agent working for foreign companies and a foreign power, suggesting, that anyone thinks, Rahul Gandhi is capable of becoming an agent. She said, "Rahul Gandhi is a political complication the Congress could not solve."
