Kanpur: In the latest development in the train derailment attempt case in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, evidence of terror links has emerged in initial investigation into the conspiracy to overturn the Prayagraj-Bhiwani Kalindi Express.

As probe intensifies, investigative agencies suspect that the person who hatched the conspiracy was a 'self radicalised' person. They suspect the involvement of ISIS's Khorasan module.

For the unversed, an attempt was made to derail the Kalindi Express, heading towards Bhiwani from Prayagraj, by placing an LPG cylinder on the tracks in the Shivrajpur area here. It was a miraculous escape for the train as it hit the cylinder before coming to a screeching halt on Sunday morning.

NIA team likely to visit Kanpur today

Meanwhile, police have detained over 10 people for questioning in connection with the derailment attempt. Additonally, an NIA team is likely to visit Kanpur on Tuesday to further intensify the probe.

It is believed that the terrorists associated with this module are made jihadis through social media platforms which means they are brainwashed using social media.

They are trained for making bombs on social media. The type of material recovered from the railway track in Kanpur raises suspicion that the accused may be self-radicalised.

Notably, this incident came almost a week after Farhatullah Ghori, the alleged mastermind behind the March 1 Rameshwaram Cafe blast, called on Muslim youth in India to target Railways and transportation networks. It is learnt that ISIS commander Faratullah Ghori gives online classes to spread terrorism, from Pakistan .

Further, the probe agencies have so far collected footages from 219 cameras to get any significant lead into the case. They have questioned over 100 people in link with the case.

The Kanpur police has also questioned three gas cylinder agencies as they are trying to get the details from the serial number mentioned on the LPG cylinder as to who surrendered and delivered it.

According to the officers, the conspiracy was carried out by hiding in the bushes.
