ISRO (Indian Research Organisation) has t given up efforts to spring Chandrayaan-2's lander Vikram lying on lunar surface back to life after a hard-landing more than three weeks ago, senior officials indicated on October 1. ISRO said seven ground stations lost communication with Vikram (with rover Praygan tucked inside it), minutes before its planned soft-landing on lunar surface. Since n Bengaluru-hequartered ncy h reportedly been making all possible efforts to establish link with lander but h apparently suspended those operations 10 days ago following nightfall on Moon. "w it's t possible, it's nighttime re. Maybe after this, probably we will start. It's night time at our landing site, power may t be re", ISRO Chairman K Sivan told PTI on Tuesday. "We will make efforts afterwards (during day-time on lunar surface) also," he said.

Experts feel regaining communication might be difficult

mission life of lander and rover will be one Lunar day which is equal to fourteen earth days, ISRO h said prior to launch. Some experts believe regaining link with lander w appears extremely difficult."I think finding link after so many days is going to be extremely difficult but re is thing wrong in trying," an Isro official said on condition of anymity. Asked if lander can withstand severe cold conditions on moon during night-time, this official said: "t only cold, impact shock is something one has to worry about; lander has come down at a high speed shock generated can dam many things inside, that way it's highly doubtful. Communication antenna which orientation... where it's looking... that way it's extremely difficult to establish contact", he said.

Chandrayaan's Orbiter doing fine

Meanwhile, Sivan said orbiter is fine. ISRO said on September seven orbiter has alrey been placed in its intended orbit around Moon and shall enrich our understanding of moon's evolution and mapping of minerals and water molecules in Polar Regions, using its eight scientific instruments. orbiter camera is highest resolution camera (0.3 metres) in any lunar mission so far and shall provide high-resolution ims which will be immensely useful to global scientific community, it h said." precise launch and mission manment has ensured a long life of almost seven years inste of planned one year", ISRO h said. ISRO h constituted a national level committee consisting of acemics and ncy experts to analyse cause of communication loss with lander." committee is seriously working on that, and ir report will be available soon. I don't think it will take more than a month", official said.
