Five unidentified militants and an equal number of soldiers were killed as Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid by terrorists along Line of Control (LoC) in rth Kashmir’s Kura district. 

A defense spokesperson said in a statement issued Monday, “Indian Army launched a daring operation at Line of Control and engd Pakistan supported infiltrators in a close quarter battle in heavy sw, neutralizing entire infiltrating batch of five. Four soldiers under command of a Junior Commissioned Officer from elite Para units were heli dropped near LoC after information on infiltrators was received. An intense hand to hand battle ensued and all five terrorists were eliminated,” statement said.

It ded, “Army lost five of its soldiers, three on site and two more succumbed while y were airlifted to a nearby military hospital.”

Indian Army squ was led by Subedar Sanjeev Kumar and included Havildar Davendra Singh, Paratrooper Bal Krishan, Paratrooper Amit Kumar and Paratrooper Chhatrapal Singh. While paying tribute to martyrs, “Indian Army salutes brave hearts killed in action and shall continue to protect its borders from inimical forces at all costs at all times,” statement said.

Terrorists' families claim body

Meanwhile, three families from South Kashmir have approached J&K police, claiming that ir kins are among five terrorists killed in a gunfight in swbound woods of Kura. families, two from Shopian district and ar one from Kulgam are said to have reached Kura, demanding handing over of bodies for performing last rites. However, police said that it was premature to comment as identification process would be done once bodies are handed over to m by Army.

Army's operation

Pertinently, on Saturday evening, Army h rushed elite paratroopers to Rangdoori, Guguldara and Teen Behak area of Jumgund in Kura. Sources said that firing continued throughout night, reaching peak wee hours of Sunday. operation was launched initially by Army’s 8 JAT after intercepting a group of militants on Wednesday. Besides, y said, searches continued along  Safawali, Kumki, Zurhuma, Batpora, Awaoora and Haihama areas by joint team of Army’s 41 and 57 Rashtriya Rifles, 160 Territorial Army and J&K police.

Pakistan's nefarious tactic
