Dubbing terrorists in Kashmir as 'Pakistan-purchased boys', Jammu and Kashmir Goverr Satya Pal Malik on Wednesday warned m of dire consequences if y do t stop threatening apple growers against selling ir produce outside of Valley.

"Some Pakistan-purchased boys are roaming around (in valley) and threatening to kill orchardists to stop m from selling ir fruit to outside markets," said Malik, dressing a garing after laying foundation for state cancer institute here.

"I am telling m to mend ir ways as I don't kw wher fruit dealers will die or t but re is a guarantee that you will soon get killed," said Malik in a stern warning to terrorists.

Market intervention scheme launched

 warning came barely two days after Malik launched market intervention scheme, aimed at securing optimum prices to apple growers at a time when rmal life continues to be paralysed in Valley since Centre decided on August 5 to revoke state's special status from October 31.

Health and wellness centres inaugurated

Jammu and Kashmir goverr, who also inaugurated 196 health and wellness centres in state and released a policy document on romap to reducing infant mortality rate to single-digit figure by 2022, said apples used to sell at Rs 3 a kilogram but following market intervention schemes, fruit is w being sold at Rs 15 a kg.

scheme has been approved by Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, under Union Ministry of Agriculture for current apple harvesting season.
