J&K Lt Guv holds review of PMGSY progress

 Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Goverr Maj Sinha on Tuesday said administration was working with an nda of equitable development to ensure welfare of every section of society.

Sinha took a comprehensive review of progress achieved under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in a meeting held at Raj Bhavan here, an official spokesperson said.

Lt goverr told meeting that adminstration was working with an nda of equitable development to ensure welfare of every section of society and called for laying special focus on upgrading and improving road connectivity, especially in rural and remote areas as it is a prerequisite for socio-ecomic development of any region.

Stressing on need to upgrade and expand road connectivity in Union terriotry, Lt goverr urged officers concerned to ensure quality standards in road construction with climate-resilient construction so that roads can withstand vagaries of climate in region, spokesman said.

Sinha directed for strict adherence to project timelines.

Lt goverr asked Public Works (Roads and Buildings) principal secretary to submit a proposal for achieving pothole-free main roads across UT, spokesman said.

LG furr directed him to expedite pace of work on all PMGSY roads for ir timely completion and called for weekly monitoring of work progress, setting of targets for completion of works and submission of progress report on a regular basis.

Lt goverr also sought a detailed report of schemes yet to be completed and directed for ir completion in a time-bound manner, spokesman said.
