J&K's Article 370 to go: Chandrababu Naidu's TDP supports Modi govt's integration move

Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu took to his Twitter handle to support Modi government's resolution to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Former Chief Minister of Andhra Presh N. Chandrababu Naidu took to his Twitter handle to support Modi government's resolution to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

He wrote: "Desam Party supports Union Govt as it seeks to repeal Article 370. I pray for peace and prosperity of people of J&K. #Article370"

Naidu's party, which h just over a year ago quit NDA seeking special category status for Andhra Presh, before being humbled in elections in Telangana, Andhra Presh and Lok Sabha, have come out in support of Modi Government over this historic decision.

Earlier in day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah moved a resolution in Rajya Sabha to abolish Article 370 after President issued a tification and also moved a bill to divide state into two Union territories -- Jammu and Kashmir, and Lakh.

Meanwhile, six columns of Army has been deployed in Jammu city on Monday to maintain law and order after Centre revoked Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. A police officer said Army personnel were deployed in sensitive localities of city as a precautionary measure.

Police, assisted by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), were deployed across Jammu region early on Monday and are strictly implementing prohibitory orders issued by deputy commissioners, who also ordered closure of all educational institutions
