J-K: Indian doctor stranded in Canada returns to join the fight against COVID-19

An Indian doctor stranded abroad has returned to the country to serve fellow citizens amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Farah was a short trip to Canada.

An Indian doctor stranded in Cana has returned to country to serve fellow citizens amid COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Farah from Jammu and Kashmir who was on a short trip to Cana got stuck re as nationwide lockdown was declared in India to contain spre of virus. She expressed her gratitude to Government of India and consulate of Cana for arranging repatriation flights for all Indians stranded abro under Vande Bharat Mission.

"I'm a doctor and I got stuck here. I felt useless while my colleagues were out re fighting COVID war. I literally wanted to go and help people. I thank consulate of Cana for creating repatriation flights which has really helped people to reach homes and to places where y actually belong. Grateful to Government of India for efforts to bring back Indians", Dr. Farah said in a video posted on social media.

Vande Bharat Mission

In a major relief for Indians stranded abro, Centre h earlier anunced that ir travel will be arranged via aircraft and naval ships in a phased manner. first phase of mission was set for 7 days starting from May 7 to rescue stranded Indians from over 11 countries including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Maldives, Singapore, and US. 

In second phase of mission, Indian government is bringing back over 32,000 stranded Indians from 31 countries from May 16 to 23. More countries have been ded in second phase including Finland, South Korea, Belgium, New Zealand, Nerlands, Kenya, Mauritius, Spain, Myanmar, Maldives, Egypt, and Sri Lanka.

Furr, in order to facilitate return of stranded Indian nationals in Oman, Indian government has decided to operate more special flights to Bangalore, Calicut, Delhi, Kannur, Kochi, and Gaya on May 20, 21, 22 and 23. Under second phase, a total of 149 flights, including feeder flights, are expected to be operated.
