On Monday, the Cyber Crime Wing of the Tamil Nadu Police arrested three men in Surat, Gujarat , for allegedly extorting Rs 1.18 crore from a victim in Chennai through a "FedEx courier fraud."

According to police, the victim received a call from someone pretending to be from a courier service, who claimed that a parcel in their name contained illegal items. The caller then connected the victim to an individual impersonating a Mumbai police officer, who threatened legal action unless the victim transferred money to prove their innocence. Fearing for their safety, the victim ended up transferring Rs 1.18 crore to various bank accounts.
