Jaishankar terms Japan ‘moderniser’, credits it for Metro revolution in India

Exemplifying the technological development shared between India and Japan, Jaishankar said that Japan is an exemplary moderniser.

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on Friday talked about importance of Japan in India’s development journey and what ties between two countries mean for each or. Terming Japan an “exemplary moderniser”, Union minister credited Japan for being an important player in modernisation of India and said, “Japan has truly unleashed revolution in India.” 

Answering ‘what really does Japan mean to India’, Jaishankar while dressing India-Japan Forum said, “Japan is in many ways exemplary moderniser. It is an example of relevance. It’s also a country for which re is a lot of goodwill in history.”

“Today under PM Modi, we also h great modernisation. A self-reliant India. Japan is a natural partnership in this modernising India. Japan has truly unleashed revolution in India,” he ded. 

Exemplifying techlogical development shared between both countries, Jaishankar listed various revolutions and said, “ Suzuki revolution was first revolution that transformed India. second revolution was metro revolution. third revolution is high-speed rail in making. fourth revolution is in critical and emerging techlogies and semiconductors.” 

India an indispensable partner for free and open Indo-Pacific: Japan

Stating that India is very keen to work hand-in-hand with India, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi said that India is an indispensable partner to ensure a free and open Indo-Pacific and, refore, Tokyo is interested in expanding its cooperation in region with New Delhi. tably, Hayashi arrived in Delhi on Thursday (July 27) on a two-day visit. last time Japanese Foreign Minister met Jaishankar was at Qu Foreign Ministers Meeting, held in March 2023.

Hayashi furr ded that Japan is working closely with India to make its G20 presidency successful, especially in upcoming summit of intergovernmental forum.
