Kulgam Encounter: 8 Terrorists Killed So Far As Gun Battle Enters Day 2

Kashmir: Two more terrorists have been killed in the ongoing encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam on Sunday, bringing the overall toll to 8. Anti-terror operations are underway, as per the Republic's sources. 

This comes a day after two encounters broke out in the Frisal Chinnigam area and the Modergam Village in the Kulgam District of South Kashmir. 

During these operations, two soldiers were also martyred.

As per sources, several gunshots were heard in both the areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

Following the firing incident, additional joint teams of the Jammu and Kashmir police and the security forces rushed to the area and initiated a combing operation.

The Kashmir zone police confirmed the incident saying that the contact was established at the Frisal Chinnigam area in Kulgam district. The police and the security forces are at the spot.

According to officials, earlier, the encounter broke after the security forces were conducting a cordon-and-search operation in Modergam village of the South Kashmir district after receiving inputs about the presence of terrorists there.
