Jayalalithaa's samadhi turns wedding venue for politician's son

AIADMK party workers said the marriage at 'Amma's' (Jayalalithaa) mausoleum gave them the satisfaction of the wedding being blessed by the late leader.

ceremony in accompaniment of friends and relatives. As auspicious music of 'nadaswaram' was played, priest chanted hymns and marri was solemnised with groom tying mangalsutra around bride's neck. Also, an 'arti' was performed as a mark of respect to departed leader as couple prostrated before mausoleum.

Party workers said marri at 'Amma's' (Jayalalithaa) mausoleum gave m satisfaction of wedding being blessed by late leader. Using flowers, a two-leaves symbol of AIADMK was drawn in green on samadhi's floor and portrait of Jayalalithaa was decorated with garlands. Party sources said special permission was obtained from authorities to solemnise marri at mausoleum. Veteran party leader A Thamizh Magan Hussain, former State Minister S Gokula Indira presided over wedding, attended by party workers among ors.

Jayalalithaa died on December 5, 2016, and was buried behind memorial of her mentor and AIADMK founder leader MG Ramachandran abutting Marina Beach.
