Union Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office, Jitendra Singh has said that the Kashmiri Politicians won't be kept under house arrest for more than 18 months. Additionally, he also said that their house arrest is more like living as a 'house guest'. Jitendra Singh reiterated that they are living as house guests because of the amenities provided to them. Movies, gym and VIP bungalows are few of the facilities they have access to, he said.

‘House Guest’ not ‘House Arrest’

The Union Minister talking about the Kashmiri political leaders explained that they have been kept in VIP bungalows and given CDs of Hollywood movies. They have also been given a gym facility. Thus, he concluded that they are living as house guests as opposed to arresting. He also said that they would not be kept like this for more than 18 months. Jitendra Singh also said that Pakistan occupied Kashmir is also our and we will restore the boundaries of Jammu and Kashmir.

Kashmiri politicians kept in observation for nearly two months

The former chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti are kept under house arrest for more nearly two months. They were put under house arrest on August 5 when the Home Minister Amit Shah moved a resolution in Parliament to abrogate Article 370. Recently, Former J&K chief chief minister and National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah has been detained under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) of Jammu and Kashmir. The state of Jammu and Kashmir was later bifurcated in two Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir after this resolution was passed.

PoK is an integral part of India

Union Minister Jitendra Singh, earlier this month, said, while abrogation of Article 370 is a big achievement for the Modi government 'our next agenda' will be making Pakistan-occupied Kashmir an integral part of India. He also said that, "It is not only my or my party's commitment but a stand of the unanimous resolution passed by Parliament in 1994 by the then Congress government, headed by PV Narsimha Rao. This is an accepted position." What is being said in Pakistan by some leaders is being closely followed by the MEA. Their remarks do not carry any weight.” He also said that the abrogation of Article 370 is the greatest achievement within 100 days of the new Modi government.
