Jitendra Singh praises Ladakh administration, civil society's fight against coronavirus

Union minister Jitendra Singh on Tuesday appreciated the administration and the civil society in Ladakh to help the Union territory gradually come out from the coronavirus assault.

Union minister Jitendra Singh on Tuesday appreciated ministration and civil society in Lakh to help Union territory grually come out from coronavirus assault.

In a meeting with Lieutenant Goverr of Lakh R K Mathur, who h called on minister here, Singh conveyed government’s appreciation for consistent diligence and effort with which Union territory ministration h dealt with COVID-19 pandemic and also succeeded in containing it, a statement issued by personnel ministry said.

“He ted that it was Lakh which h caused initial alarm for entire country when suddenly a number of cases reported coronavirus positive from among returnees, who were coming back from Iran pilgrim, but it goes to credit of ministration and civil society that Lakh is among first to grually come out from corona assault,” statement said.

During meeting, y discussed COVID-19 situation and or issues, including revival of development activity in newly-created Union territory.

Among various projects in pipeline, minister also mentioned project for processing of ‘Leh Berry’ for which Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has prepared a plan.

Minister of State for Personnel also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his clear instructions to give priority to peripheral areas of Lakh and rth east, as a result of which air cargo supplies started reaching re even before lockdown.

As of today, store of ration, vegetables and fruit in Lakh is in much bigger quantity than it would have rmally been orwise in this part of year, he ded.

minister also h a word of praise for two young deputy commissioners of Leh and Kargil and two Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) of se two districts respectively who were in touch on day-to-day basis and coordinated for different issues from time to time, which helped in facilitating supply of medical equipment and later movement of people returning from different parts of country.

Mathur apprised Singh of current situation and said w an effort is being me to revive development activity. He also discussed some of projects related to power generation and construction work which h got delayed due to pandemic and said that very soon se would be revived.

LG thanked minister for his day-to-day support and for facilitating central assistance during entire period of pandemic.

Lakh has 52 COVID-19 cases, according to Union health ministry.
