J&K: Protests Erupt Across Kishtwar Over Killing 2 Village Defence Guards

Kishtwar: People took to streets in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district to protest against killings of two Vill Defence Guards by terrorists.

protesters demanded "immediate elimination" of terrorists involved in killings to restore confidence among local population.

Hundreds gared in Drabshalla area of district, burning tyres and blocking ros. y raised slogans against Pakistan and terrorists, and chanted 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'.

Protests were also reported in Kuntwara and or areas early this morning, with slogans of 'Pakistan Murdab' and a sit-in on ro.

"This kind of incident has t happened in this area for a long time. victims were grazing ir cattle when terrorists kidnapped and killed m. This is an act of cowardice. We cant tolerate this. people stand firmly against terrorism," said Drabshalla resident Kuldeep Singh.

"We demand a massive operation to eliminate terrorists involved in this act. forces should sweep entire hills so that people feel safe to graze cattle in se areas," he ded.

Residents also observed a shutdown in district. Sanatan Dharam Sabha has called for a complete bandh in Kishtwar in protest against killings on Friday.

general public of Kishtwar is requested to fully support bandh call and keep all ir business establishments, educational institutions and shops closed, it said.

Kishtwar MLA Shugan Parihar condemned killings and said, "I am deeply sdened by horrific killings of our VDG brors, Nazir Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar, in a heius act of terrorism in forest area of Kuntwara, Kishtwar district. I offer my heartfelt condolences to families of se brave martyrs".

She ded, " grief and pain of losing someone in this manner is something I deeply feel." Terrorists killed two Vill Defence Guards on Thursday after abducting m in higher reaches of Kishtwar district, officials reported. A massive joint search operation is underway by police and Army in dense forest area following brutal killings, which have been condemned by Lieutenant Goverr Maj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and leers from National Conference, People's Democratic Party, Congress , and BJP .

Kashmir Tigers, an offshoot of Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohamm, claimed responsibility for attack, and also shared pictures of victim's bodies with ir eyes blindfolded.
