JNU case: Court tells Arvind Kejriwal government it can't sit on Delhi Police's 'tukde tukde' file, directs Delhi police to obtain sanction for chargesheet

The Patiala House Court on Wednesday told the Delhi police to obtain sanction for its 2016 JNU case chargesheet from the Delhi government, with the judge adding that the government can't stop the file.

Patiala House Court on Wednesday told Delhi police to obtain sanction for its 2016 JNU case chargesheet from Delhi government, with judge ding that government can't stop file.

In a quick hearing, Investigating Officer informed judge that Delhi Police hn't yet been able to get sanction from Delhi government to file its chargesheet and that y were waiting for same. judge n directed officer to ask government to expedite matter, ding that y ( government) can't stop file. judge n fixed February 28 as next date of hearing.

It was on January 14 that Delhi Police h filed a 1200-p chargesheet in Patiala House court, carrying in documentary and electronic evidence in a massive metal box. In chargesheet, ten persons, including Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya were named as main-accused along with seven ors, while 36 persons, incuding Shelha Rashid were named under a list of persons against whom re was insufficient evidence. A few days later, however, Patiala House Court declined to take cognisance of chargesheet as Delhi government hn't given its sanction. judge asked Delhi police why it h filed it without sanction as it didn't have a legal department of its own, with police responding that file has been sent but reply received.

Furrmore, in a sensational development, on January 22, n as-yet unlaunched Republic Bharat accessed for first time video evidence of anti-India sloganeering that h taken place in February 2016 at JNU campus, throwing into sharp relief extent of sloganeering. As per Delhi police, video evidence h been aunticated by Forensic labs, and statements h been taken from students, security guards and ors.

slogans that could be seen and heard being raised in videos accessed by Republic Bharat, in pro-Afzal Guru protest, included:
