JNU Protest: MHRD forms panel to resolve issues, even as protestors march to Parliament
The MHRD has set up a high-power committee of three individuals to resolve the issues of the JNU students via dialogue amid their march to Parliament on Monday.

Ministry of Human Resource Development has set up a high-power committee to resolve issues of JNU students via dialogue. This comes as JNU students are marching towards Parliament demanding a full rollback in fee hike. Section 144 has also been imposed on JNU campus and troops have been deployed around Parliament to avoid an untoward circumstance. Amid all of this, committee appointed by MHRD has sought to have a peaceful resolution on ongoing issues.

tification issued by Ministry of Human Resource Development says, “With a view to restoring rmal functioning of Jawaharlal Nehru University through dialogue with all stakeholders and to advise university administration for resolution of contentious issues, Government has appointed a High Power Commitee with following;
- Prof V.S Chauhan, former Chairman,
- UGC Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE
- Prof. Rajnish Jain, Secretary (UGC)”.
above said Committee is requested to initiate dialogue with students and university administration immediately and submit recommendations on action to be taken.
UGC will provide required support for functioning of Committee”.

JNU students have hit road and y are marching towards Parliament for a rollback in ir fee hike. This comes after Jawaharlal Nehru University’s (JNU) administration anunced a 50% concession in hostel fee rates for students belonging to Below Poverty line (BPL). students argue that re is definition of BPL in India thus demand revocation of hike. Section 144 has also been imposed on JNU campus. Congress party’s Rajya Sabha MP, Ghulam Nabi Azad while speaking to Republic TV said he strong condemns fee hike in Jawaharlal Nehru University. Talking about protest march towards Parliament, he also made a big statement saying that this (BJP) government is against education. He said increasing fees of institution by three times means that central government does t want poor people to study. He also urged government to provide free higher education.
