A court has sought action taken report (ATR) from Delhi Police on a plea filed by a JNU professor seeking registration of FIR in a case related to attack on students and teachers in varsity campus on January 5.

Metropolitan Magistrate Ankita Lal directed concerned Station House Officer (SHO) to file report by March 25. "Let ATR be called from SHO concerned on wher any complaint has been me by complainant in police station, wer any action has been taken on complaint, status of any investigation conducted, wher FIR has been registered," court said.

plea was filed by Sucharita Sen, who suffered he injuries during attack by masked people inside campus on January 5. petition, filed through vocate it S Pujari, sought lodging of FIR into wanton acts of violence suffered by Sen at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus.

It claimed that complainant (Sen) h to approach court on account of inaction on part of police authorities despite "clear and cogent" facts and underlying material placed by her before investigating ncy. On January 5, masked men armed with sticks and rods attacked students and teachers and damd property on campus, prompting ministration to call in police which conducted a flag march.

At least 28 people, including JNU Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh, were injured as chaos reigned on campus for nearly two hours. Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Senior Union ministers and JNU alumni S Jaishankar and Nirmala Sitharaman h condemned violence.
