New Delhi: Journalist Umesh Upadhyay, 64, tragically died this morning after falling from the fourth floor of a building under construction in Vasant Kunj, South Delhi. According to police, Upadhyay was inspecting renovations at his residence when he accidentally fell from the fourth to the second floor at around 10:30 am. He suffered a severe head injury and was rushed to the hospital by 11 am, where he was pronounced dead.

Upadhyay was a towering figure in Indian journalism, boasting a career that spanned over four decades across television, print, radio, and digital media. 

He had recently authored a book, "Western Media Narratives on India: From Gandhi to Modi," showcasing his insight into global perceptions of India.

Born in 1959 in Mathura, Upadhyay began his journalism career in the early 1980s, quickly rising to prominence. His pioneering work in television journalism played a crucial role in shaping news coverage and programming strategies in India.

The news of his passing has shocked the media community, with tributes pouring in from colleagues and friends who remember him for his influential contributions and personal warmth.
