After Prime Minister Narendra Modi anunced a strict 21-day lockdown due to a massive surge in number of coronavirus cases in India, actor turned politician Kamal Haasan warned prime minister of possible impact that nation-wide curfew might have on life of daily w workers in country.

Kamal Haasan's tweet in Tamil broly translates as " government should think about where will daily wrs go to fill ir stomach during 21 days lockdown and do t igre ir plight. This is t time to help only rich industrialists; small and medium industries have always saved our ecomy. Those who igre m will lose ir positions. This is history."

Haasan's tweet was in reiteration to his open letter to prime minister urging him to think about " livelihood of millions of workers, agriculture and manual labourers, fishermen and MSME workers" during coronavirus outbreak. He ded that Ecomic Response Task Force should ensure that re is drop in ws of labour force.

PM Modi anunces 21-day lockdown

India witnessed a massive rise in coronavirus cases on Tuesday, March 24, as number of infected cases surged to 536 with 10 deaths due to dely virus. Taking stock of severity of situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi anunced a 21-day lockdown in country.

All offices of government, barring for those providing essential services, will remain shut. y will function with minimum number of employees. Hospitals and all medical establishments will be open and transportation to people working in essential services will be permitted.

All commercial establishments and private organizations will be closed. exemptions include print and electronic media, shops selling essential items, e-delivery of food, medical equipment, banks, petrol pumps etc. suspension of transport and hospitality services shall continue.

Moreover, legal action can be taken against a person who does t follow quarantine period prescribed by local health authorities. Incident Commanders appointed by District Magistrates will be responsible for overall implementation of se measures in ir jurisdictions.

An individual violating containment measures can be proceeded against under Sections 51 to 60 of Disaster Manment Act and Section 188 of Indian Penal Code.
