Kamal Nath won't weigh in on Maha govt formation, says 'I'm not an astrologer'

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Indian National Congress (INC) leader Kamal Nath on Tuesday expressed his opinion on the Maharashtra government formation deadlock. Speaking about if he thinks that the National Congress Party (NCP), Congress and Shiv Sena will form an alliance in the state, the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister said, "I am not a forecaster or an astrologer." The Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, had announced President's Rule in the state on November 12. 

Sonia-Pawar meeting

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar and Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi on Monday evening held a meeting at the latter's residence in New Delhi. After the meeting, Pawar, during his press briefing after the meeting gave no clear answer over the government formation in Maharashtra. Denying the talks on the next government's formation, Pawar said that since his party only received 54 seats, why should he talk about government formation? When asked about meeting Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, Pawar laughed and said that he can meet Raut any day in the Parliament.

Sena still adamant of forming a government 

Amid uncertainty over government formation in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut on Tuesday, November 19, said Sena will soon form a stable government in the state. He also mentioned that the Sena government will be one of the ideal governments ever formed in the state.

Political developments in Maharashtra

The Mahayuti alliance of the BJP and Shiv Sena had a fallout post results over the 50:50 formula and rotational Chief Minister position. Subsequent to the falling of the saffron alliance, BJP, the single-largest party refused to form a government in the state. However, the constitution of the next government remains shrouded as the NCP-Congress-Shiv Sena is yet to be finalised, with more NCP-Congress meetings set to be held in the next few days.
