Speaking to the media on the Haryana and Maharashtra assembly poll results day, Congress leader and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath attacked the Manohar Lal Khattar Government and said that the trends in Maharashtra and Haryana showcase that people have realised that the Government misled them.

"Madhya Pradesh is not facing economic slowdown because MP has people's hopes. One of the reasons for an economic slowdown is people has lost hope. Our entire banking sector is suffering. I would like to congratulate the voters of Maharashtra and Haryana; I would also like them to consider the farmers and youth of India," Kamal Nath said.

'People rejected BJP'

On being asked whether the results could have been better, the leader said that the difference in the election trends in the country shows that people have rejected the Bharatiya Janata Party. "The same places, where the BJP won by huge margins three to four-months back, is rejecting the party today; this indicates that people are realising. The leader further added that it is time for the politics of dividing and instigating to end, we will try and make a Congress Government in Haryana because the BJP did not win a majority. People have absolutely rejected them and they must accept this defeat, they should not even try to make a government.

'There were questions about the organisational structure of Congress'

On being asked whether the Congress would win a majority, if it put their best foot forward, the leader said that if the Congress party did not face issues with its organisational structure, the results would be even better.

"Congress has put their best foot forward, but it must be acknowledged that there were questions about the organisational structure of the party," he said. Such a huge difference between the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha in just five months show that people think they have been looted," he added.

Apart from its impressive performance in the Haryana elections, the Congress also managed to win power from the BJP in the Jhabua assembly bypoll. Congress candidate Kantilal Bhuriya defeated BJP first-timer Bhanu Bhuria by over 18,000 votes.
