The love story

Kamal Singhla, the accused and a builder by profession was running his business from Rajasthan's Tapukada. In 2010, Kamal met Sakuntla who used to live in the neighbourhood. Both fell in love with each other and decided to get married. Meanwhile, her family fixed her marriage with Ravi. She told Kamal that her marriage was fixed with someone else. This made Kamal cross and he told her to speak to her parents that she didn’t want to get married. But she told Kamal that she didn't have the courage to speak to her parents. Finally, Kamal decided to speak to Ravi.

"Kamal spoke to Ravi and threatened him of dire consequences that if he would get married to Sakuntla, he would be murdered. But Ravi didn't pay heed to his threat and got married with Sakuntla," said a senior police official.

Kamal’s revenge

Ravi was a resident of Samalkha village that falls under the Kapashera area of south Delhi. He brought Sakuntla to Delhi. But Sakuntla was still in touch with Kamal. The latter hatched the conspiracy to kill Ravi. As per the plan, Sakuntla told Ravi that she wanted to meet her relative. She also told Ravi that her friend Kamal would come to pick and drop her.

"Kamal had also roped in his driver Ganesh in the plan. They went to Sakuntla’s home in south Delhi. They picked her and Ravi. Sakuntla was dropped at her relative’s home. Kamal then told Ravi that he wanted to talk to him. They took him to a scheduled place and strangled him to death," said Joy Tirkey, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Crime Branch.

They took his body to Alwar to bury it. On the entire 70 km long stretch way from Rewari to Alwar, they kept on burying his body parts at different spots. On reaching their final destination, they dumped the remaining parts.

Police investigation

The father of Ravi lodged a missing complaint with the local police station. But even after investigating the case for so many years, nothing fruitful came out. Ultimately, the case was handed over to the Crime Branch. ACP S K Gulia started the investigation from the beginning. He called the suspects Kamal, Sakuntla, and Ganesh for questioning. But they didn't reveal anything. Furthermore, ACP S K Gulia put them to the polygraph test, but it came out in their favour.

DCP Joy Tirkey said that the criminals sometimes managed to give the slip in the polygraph test.

"But we were sure about their crime. We asked them to appear for the Narco test which they refused it made our case confirmed that they were the real culprits. They were then put to the brain mapping test. It proved our case and their lies were exposed. Finally, they broke down and confessed their crime," said Tirkey.

The police team then searched for the body and managed to get the remaining parts, which consisted of only 25 bones. The rest of the parts were not recovered. The police said that they were still working on the case.
