On the occasion of Kartik Poornima, thousands of devotees took a holy dip in the waters of Dashashwamedh Ghat in the banks of Varanasi on Tuesday, November 12.

On occasion of Kartik Poornima, thousands of devotees took a holy dip in waters of Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi on Tuesday, vember 12. festival of Kartik Poornima is also kwn as Dev Deepawali, and to commemorate this occasion, devotees take a holy dip in river Sarayu and or holy rivers, while also lighting earn lamps at temples as well as banks of rivers. Kartika Poornima is a Hindu, Sikh and Jain cultural festival, celebrated on Purnima (full moon) day or fifteenth lunar day of Kartik (vember–December).

A large number of devotees have come from hilly parts of country, Delhi and Uttar Presh to take a bath on Kartik Poornima. Karthik Poornima was also celebrated in a big way in Ayodhya.

Security tightened in rth India

A senior official said, besides police force on high alert in city, units of paramilitary forces, home guards have also been deployed.
