Kashmiri teacher Rajni Bala sought transfer fearing terror threats days before her death

Slain teacher Rajni Bala, who worked at a govt school in Kulgam's Gopalpora area, had written a letter to the Chief Education Officer citing fear & insecurity.

Almost a week before she was shot de by terrorists, Kashmiri resident Rajni Bala h sought her transfer from Kulgam, citing terror threats. According to sources, Rajni, who worked as a government school teacher in Gopalpora area, h written a letter to Chief Education Officer citing “fear and insecurity“ in wake of targeted killings in Kashmir.

In her letter, accessed by Republic TV, Rajni told authorities that her school is located in Orchard area with no boundaries and sought transfer to a safer location.

slain teacher's husband, Raj Kumar has accused  ministration of turning a deaf ear to ir repeated requests to transfer her to a safer area in Union Territory. Shattered by his wife's demise, Kumar stated that Hindus are soft targets in Kashmir and ministration should consider relocating m in view of fear psychosis.

couple, Bala and Kumar, h received a transfer order to anor school in a safer area only on Monday night. Tuesday was supposed to be last day for Bala at her old school.

Anger erupts over Kashmiri teacher's killing

On Tuesday, May 31, terrorists fired upon Rajni Bala when she was walking toward school, causing severe injuries.  terrorists barged into school building and shot her at close range, officials said. Hailing from Samba district in Jammu, Bala was a Kashmiri Hindu.

Her death evoked widespre condemnation in Valley. Anger spilt onto streets as Kashmiri Pandits' continued to protest, on Wednesday, and demanded action against civilian killings in Valley. Meanwhile, local ministration officers along with police came forward to pacify protestors gared and assured m that ir demands will be met.

Rajni Bala's final rites were performed in Samba as a massive crowd gared to pay respect on Wednesday, June 1.

murder of school teacher comes only two weeks after Rahul Bhat, a Kashmiri Pandit clerk. was killed in Budgam district on May 12. Rajni Bala's murder is seventh targeted killing in Valley this month. Three victims were off-duty policemen and four were civilians.
