4 Dead, Several Injured in Explosion at Firecracker Factory in UP's Kaushambi; Many Feared Trapped

Kaushambi: A major explosion was reported at a firecracker factory in Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. According to media reports, four people have died and at least five others were injured in the blast. The blast Incident took place in Bharwari town which falls under the jurisdiction of Kokhraj Police Station area. 

Many people are feared to be trapped at the blast site. The intensity of the explosion was to the extent that the firecrackers flew several kilometres away. A rescue operation has been launched to track those trapped. Police said the factory had the license to manufacture and sell firecrackers and the rescue operation is underway.

Kaushambi SP Brijesh Srivastava said, “There has been a fire in a firecracker factory in Bharwari. As per the information, there are four casualties and some people are injured. They have been sent to the hospital for treatment. The factory is far away from the residential area... The rescue operation is underway... They had the license to manufacture and sell. 5-6 people are injured..."
