Mumbai’s local trains, which are considered as the lifeline of the city, are moving ahead with time. Trains that carry thousands of travellers on a daily basis are going to modernize woman’s coach logo. Woman in Saree has been the face for all women’s coaches since the beginning but now a woman in formal suit and shirt is all ready to take over.
As the part of upgradation the women’s coaches will also have posters of strong women idols such as Indian first woman astronaut, Kalpana Chawla along with badminton player, Saina Nehwal and Cricketer, Mithali Raj.

Tweeting about the same, the Western Railways wrote: "To keep up with the changing times, WR is modernising the logo used to mark women’s coaches. Apart from the change in the logo, posters of inspiring women with details of their achievements will also be displayed in the ladies coaches".

As a part of the project, only two of the 12-coach trains have been upgraded with the new logo and posters as of yet. However, two more are expected to come out in a few weeks.
This idea for a logo change came into existence after a regular inspection that took place two months ago by AK Gupta, WR (Western Railways) General Manager. He felt that the old logos did not adequately represent the women of today.

The new logo will be larger in size to make sure that the commuters do not mistake it for the general compartment.
