Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday anunced a scheme in which people in unauthorized colonies can get ir septic tanks cleaned for free. re are around 1,700 unauthorized colonies in Delhi and around 430 have sewer lines. In rest of colonies, people have septic tanks, which y get cleaned by hiring private parties.
"Many times people die while cleaning se septic tanks and this is a big step in making Delhi clean and putting an end to sewer deaths," he said. " contractors or private companies that eng se people are t registered. se companies dump sludge in drains, contaminating Yamuna river," Kejriwal said.

'Septic tanks to be cleaned for free'
" Delhi government will get septic tanks cleaned for free," he said. He said government will hire an ncy to clean septic tanks in unauthorized colonies and a tender will be floated within a month. DJB trucks will collect sludge from se septic tanks and take it to sew treatment plants. "Any person can put in a request to get septic tank cleaned by calling a phone number," he said.
