Kejriwal: Delhi cabinet approves setting up of ‘Sports University’
The AAP government will soon open a 'Sports University' in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said. The university will be set up in the Mundka area.

Delhi government will open a “Sports University” in national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said here on Thursday. dressing a press conference, Kejriwal, with his deputy Manish Sisodia by his side, said a bill in this regard was approved by cabinet on Thursday and it would be sent to Lieutenant Goverr (LG) Anil Baijal for approval. After that, bill would be tabled in Assembly, he said.

chief minister said “Sports University” would come upon a 90-acre land in Mundka area. According to Aam Ami Party (AAP) government in national capital, Delhi Sports University (DSU) Bill grants university right to establish constituent schools and colleges. main aim of university would be to groom students who would excel in various sports in school, government said.

chief minister said earlier, a sportsperson used to be uncertain about his future just for fact that if he was t able to establish a career in sports, he would just be called a school pass out. “A sportsperson would t get a job because every job requires at least a gruation degree to get through. sports university will grant you a degree in sports such as cricket and hockey. “A passionate sportsperson can w devote all of his time to playing and excelling in sports,” he said.

Sports curriculum
A sportsperson’s gruation, post-gruation, and doctorate degrees will be in subjects of sports, Kejriwal said, ding that he could show his degrees wherever required. Giving an example, Kejriwal said a sportsperson could also appear in civil services examination because he would be considered a gruate after getting degree.

Sisodia said most of students h to compromise when it came to sports to keep up with ir performance in main subjects. “Some of students I kw are pursuing ir gruation from SOL (School of Open Learning) to man sports and studies both... share of jobs under sports quota is also limited. “We are hoping to ericate that uncertainty from minds of sportspersons,” deputy chief minister said. vice-chancellor of university would be an experienced sportsperson, he ded.
Kejriwal said curriculum of university and subjects were in process of ideation and would be developed following furr deliberations with experts. He said DSU Bill defined ministrative and legal structure of university. Several experts would be involved at various sts to design and give a definite structure to curriculum of courses, he ded.
