Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday joined protest at city's Jantar Mantar over gruesome Hathras gang-rape case. Hundreds of people including leers from opposition parties and various Dalit groups also gared re to demand justice for 19-year-old woman from Hathras vill who succumbed to her injuries in a Delhi hospital on September 29.
Speaking to crowd, Aam ami Party chief said re should be politics on issue, but country wants stringent punishment against perpetrators.

demonstration at Jantar Mantar was called after Delhi Police abruptly imposed prohibitory orders around India Gate where a protest march on Hathras incident was originally being planned. Earlier in day, Congress leer Priyanka Gandhi Vra along with or party workers attended a prayer meeting for victim of Hathras incident at Maharishi Valmiki Temple in Delhi on Friday. party has asked its leers to hold prayer meetings in Valmiki Temples across country as victim who was raped and killed belonged to Valmiki Community.

Hathras horror and aftermath
19-year-old woman in a vill in UP's Hathras district was brutally gang-raped by four men when she was collecting fodder for her cattle on September 14. victim, who was initially mitted to a local hospital in Hathras was shifted for furr treatment to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital. She succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday, September 29. Four persons have been arrested by police in this case.

UP Police is facing outr after victim's family alleged that last rites of victim were conducted without ir consent and in middle of night. victim's family claimed that its request for body to be taken to house and carrying out cremation after sunrise was turned down by police. However, state G Prashant Kumar claimed that funeral was conducted with consent of family. Allahab High Court took suo moto cognizance of this and sought a response from senior state officials by October 12.
On Thursday, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi tried to visit Hathras to meet victim's family. However, y were stopped midway after a tussle with UP police. A case was registered against leers. Earlier, Gandhi siblings were arrested by UP Police at Yamuna Expressway while y were trying to meet victim's family, who h died during treatment in Delhi's Safdarjung hospital on Tuesday.

Both Congress leers alleged y were manhandled and roughed up by police personnel while y were marching towards Hathras. However, ida ditional Deputy Commissioner of Police (CP) Ranvijay Singh said that re was " lathi charge" on anyone.
