New Delhi: AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal , who stepped down as the Delhi Chief Minister on Monday, will “live among the common people” after vacating the official residence in Civil Lines within 15 days, senior party leader Sanjay Singh said. Speaking to reporters, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh stated that Kejriwal would also relinquish all government facilities, including security, car, driver, and staff.

"Any elected Chief Minister gets many government facilities but after resigning from the post of CM yesterday, the first thing he said was he would vacate the house and give up all these facilities in 15 days," Singh elaborated.

Singh did not disclose the future residence of Kejriwal and his family after vacating the Civil Lines house. He pointed out, however, that as the head of a national political party, Kejriwal could opt for accommodation provided by the government.

When asked about Kejriwal's security, Singh alleged that the AAP leader had been targeted multiple times, particularly by members of the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ). "We tried to explain to him that his official residence is vital not just for his role as the chief minister but also for his safety and security. But he did not listen and has decided that he will vacate the house as per rules and will live among the common with God’s protection," said Singh.

“God is with him… He lived in jail for six months among dreaded criminals… God will protect him and he is not worried about the house or the government perks… He will vacate the house and live among the common…He has not decided on the place yet,” Singh added.

The Delhi CM House, located on Flag Staff Road in Civil Lines, has also stoked a controversy last year, amid corruption allegations. The BJP referred to it as a "Sheesh Mahal." Ten Public Works Department (PWD) officials involved in its renovation and construction were suspended for alleged corruption.

Despite these controversies, Singh expressed confidence in Kejriwal's reputation, asserting that the people of Delhi would support him with a "certificate of honesty" and a massive victory in the upcoming Assembly elections.

" Arvind Kejriwal is the first leader in the history of India who is saying with pride that 'if I am honest, vote for me, else not'," he asserted.

On Tuesday, Kejriwal submitted his resignation as Delhi's chief minister, nominating Atishi to serve as his successor for the next five months, leading up to the Assembly elections.
