Reported by: Apoorva Shukla

The accused in Kerala blasts, Dominic Martin, who claimed the responsibility for the attack by surrendering at Kodakra Police Station, in Thrissur will be presented before the Magistrate today. Martin, 48-years-old, will also be taken for a medical assessment to Ernakulam government medical college and hospital. As per reports, Martin is likely to be named as the accused in the case. Currently, the complaint registered by the state Police doesn’t carry Martin’s name.

Three serial blasts were reported within minutes from a gathering of the Jehovah's Witnesses -- a Christian religious group that originated in the US in the 19th century in Kalamassery, about 10 kilometers from Kochi. After the blast, Martin had claimed responsibility, stating that he belonged to the same Christian denomination that organised the prayer meet. However, the Police has not yet confirmed his involvement as investigations are underway.

“His name is Dominic Martin and he claims that he belonged to the same group of sabha. We are verifying it. We are looking into all aspects of this case...The blast took place in the central part of the hall," Kerala ADGP (law and order) MR Ajith Kumar. In the blast, 3 people have been killed and over 50 are undergoing treatment. As per the preliminary investigation, IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) were used to trigger the blasts
