Kerala HC directs Centre & state to look into bringing back Covid-affected Malayali nurses

High Court has asked the Centre and State governments to look into the petition seeking the return of nurses considering their poor health and working condition

In a new development in matter of petition filed by United Nurses Association (UNA) seeking to bring back  COVID-19 affected Kerala nurses from or states, Kerala High Court has asked Centre and State governments to look into petition seeking return of nurses considering ir "poor health and working conditions".

Centre & state govt look into matter: Kerala HC

A Division Bench of Justice Devan Ramachandran and Justice TR Ravi on Friday asked Centre and State to look into matter and slated it for furr hearing on April 28, while hearing a petition filed by United Nurses Association (UNA),

"In view of urgency raised by petitioner, we hereby direct respondents to look into this matter immediately as plight of nurses in Delhi, West Bengal, and Maharashtra is extremely critical," court said.

About petition filed by UNA

petition was raised in concerns with Malayali nurses working in alarmingly dangerous environments in or states such as Delhi, Maharashtra, and West Bengal. petition was filed by Kerala-based United Nurses Association (UNA), through its President, Shoby Joseph. plea highlighted that health of medical workers is of utmost importance to combat dely coronavirus. plea furr alleged that tests are t being prescribed by doctors to nurses showing symptoms in order to force m to work and even after days or weeks after a test is prescribed, same is t done. "A dearth in number of healthcare workers would only make it more difficult to fight virus. nurses are working in alarmingly dangerous environments which give m exposure to COVID-19 virus," plea said.

Furr, UNA has alrey given a representation to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in matter and while online petition has been accepted, effective steps have been taken to bring back nurses.
