Kerala police chops off her long tresses to donate it to cancer patients

The officer chopped her knee-length hair so that it could be made into wigs for cancer patients. Aparna had donated her hair before. However, this time she wanted to go all out, not informing anyone except for the authorities for permission. She said if she had told anybody else, a problem might have occurred. For this reason, she walked straight into the salon and got them all chopped off. She said that as she wasn't in a position to help someone financially, donating her hair was a small step from her side to make a person's life better. With that, she shied away from praises terming herself as someone who has done a tiny act, reportedly saying "people do greater things than this".

Not just her, two years ago even her daughter Devika and Gowri had donated their hair. Not the first selfless act

According to news reports, this is not Aparna's first selfless act. Ten years ago she had donated three of her gold bangles to a family who was struggling to pay Rs. 60,000 hospital bill at a private hospital. The family wanted to get the body of their kin released when the officer stepped in to help with the amount after listening to their plight. The officer had gone to the hospital for an inquest report of a murder.
