Lieutenant Goverr of Puducherry Kiran Bedi has said Union Territory has remained distinct from or territories after its merger with Indian Union. In her mess greeting people here on eve of 66th Liberation Day (De Facto Merger Day) of Puducherry on Thursday, she said union territory and or outlying regions which were under French rule became a territory of India on vember 1, 1954, after de facto merger with Indian Union. merger took place as a direct sequel to referendum held at border vill of Kizhoor in October 1954. Union Territory has remained distinct from or territories after its merger, she said.
